What if our inability to understand God is not a failure of faith or intelligence, but simply a failure of dimension?

Consider the 1884 science fiction novel Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott. Living in Flatland is like living on a flat piece of paper — a purely two-dimensional world. Let’s call it 2D Land.

Now imagine a 3D object, such as a sphere, intersecting with 2D Land. What would its inhabitants see? At first contact, the sphere would appear as nothing more than a single point. As it descends further, that point would expand into a circle. The people of 2D Land could spend entire lifetimes and academic careers analyzing that circle — its radius, its geometry, its behavior — and yet, no matter how thoroughly they understood it, they would still be missing the rest of the sphere. They would see a circle. In reality, it’s a sphere.

What if we are like the inhabitants of 2D Land, analyzing phenomena that are simply beyond our dimensional perception? We may be confronting a level of complexity as incomprehensible as the notion of infinity itself. What if God is a 4D, 5D, 6D — or even higher-dimensional — being? A being capable of existing fully in higher dimensions, while simultaneously manifesting within our 3D reality?

This is not as abstract as it sounds. Consider how humans keep animals as pets and livestock — dogs, cats, fish, cows, sheep. These creatures are sentient, yet they lack the human perception of time and depth. Humans are, in fact, the only organisms on Earth with 4D perception. This is precisely why the solutions to most 3D problems become accessible once they enter the human mind — we perceive a dimension that the problem itself does not exist in.

We experience the illusion of linear time because we are 4D beings living inside a 3D reality. That illusion serves us well in earthly, practical matters. But in spiritual matters, it becomes a limitation — a cage built from the very perception that makes us capable in the physical world.

On a 3D plane, the higher dimensions of a 4D, 5D, or 6D object are simply invisible to our eyes. We only ever see slices — cross-sections of something far greater passing through our plane of existence, much like the people of Flatland seeing only a dot or a circle where there is actually a sphere.

The fourth dimension is also known as the astral or mental realm. This is the realm our soul originates from, and the realm it returns to after our life on earth. One might assume that perceiving 4D reality would feel like a natural expansion — but it is not. The 4D realm is a complete inversion of everything we experience in waking, 3D life.
